Subtitling is a discipline that most general translators cannot do correctly. A subtitle must convey the meaning of what was said in a format that a viewer can read in the time the line is on screen. This means compression. This means timing. This means understanding when to split a long speech into two lines and when to combine two short lines into one. It means knowing that a subtitle of 42 characters per line reads comfortably at normal speech rate but becomes unreadable when the speaker is talking fast. We produce subtitles for feature films, short films, documentaries, corporate video content, and streaming platform originals. We deliver in SRT and EBU-STL format. For Cannes, Berlinale, Venice and other festival submissions we follow the specific subtitle specifications published by each festival. For broadcast delivery we apply the applicable national broadcast standard. Our film translation team works from original dialogue scripts and the master video file to ensure frame-accurate timing. We cover all major European languages and Japanese, Korean, Arabic and Mandarin Chinese.
